The Ellisbridge Gymkhana Stands in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad, India to provide special privileges to special people. Founded on 17th October 1962, by late Shri G.L. Shah, ICS and ably guided by Shri Arvind Narottam Lalbhai, for over 50 years, the club today has the distinction of being the best recreation centre of the city.
  From a strength of mere 52 members at start, the club now has more than 6000 members. The club is within easy reach of the Airport and Railway Station. Ahmedabad is a major commercial city on the banks of Sabarmati river, 500 Kms north of Bombay and 900 south west of Delhi with the tropic of cancer running very close to it in the north. Ahmedabad is named after Sultan Ahmed Shah who established it in 1411 during the reign of the great Moghuls.   Today, it is one of the most prosperous cities with a population of 5 million people. This biggest city of Gujarat exudes history and culture. It is an amalgam of the modern and the traditional culture with one foot in the future and the other in the past. The city is well connected by rail, road and air services.
  Ahmedabad is proud to be one of the prime nerve centers of Indian Freedom Struggle. It was from this city Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation, led many non-violent battles against the imperial rule, which finally made India an independent sovereign country in 1947.

The club is Within few yards from the British Library and the popular stretch of the green Law Gardens. This offers shopping of traditional and casual clothing and mouth watering eats. Right opposite is the Horticulture Garden and Nursery. On a stone throwing distance from the cultural centers of the city, the club shares a common wall with a famous Art Gallery.
